Fsking UpWorthy, the Ebaums of "touching" material - ripping off people and repackaging it as their own. At least they include a vauge attribution to the artist (the intro text and the FB link at the end). This is a single-page view of Something Terrible, from the artist Dean Trippe.

filthy light thief's link is better for getting the pacing of the comic - it's one of the few times where I think putting something on multiple pages makes it clearer. Great comic.

Gah! Even worse, it's a truncated version of Something Terrible. UpWorthy (or someone else, perhaps Trippe) cut out frames, and removed paired to make it a more suscinct single "page" comic. On the flip side, Something Terrible is posted as a "teaser," and you can buy the whole comic for $0.99 USD.

"The medium is the message..." Yes - let the hate flow :D (Might I ask that the original be substituted, in order to prevent the already occurring derail? I agree with the aforementioned sentiments, but would like to not jump track onto the collective hate bandwagon, distracting our attention away from the message).

It's well worth paying the dollar to view the whole thing, I can say. Great stuff.

The problem is that the Something Terrible is shared as a teaser to the whole story, so that link could be added as a partial "extended cut" of the whole comic, but my link doesn't include the full story (which Trippe spent the last year working on). Here's a long summary of the complete 14 page comic, but covered in text, not in images.

And Here's an interview with Trippe, about the comic in question, where he says the whole thing is free. I'm guessing that changed.

Here's the abridge UpWorthy version (again), because the revised link in the OP is the first part of the story. I reacted to the source of the link and didn't take the moment to read the note from Dean Trippe himself at the end of the piece. I apologize for my GRARbomb dropped at the beginning of this thread, and I vow to read the article (or at least, the entire one-page comic) before ranting about the content host. To atone for my wrongs, I'll share this large version of "You'll Be Safe Here," the climactic image from this comic (with proper credits to the artist and the source).

Worlds collide - a buddy I have on FB shared the Upworthy link, and he doesn't ever (!!!) share Upworthy links. I knew it had to be truly worth clicking. Thank everything sacred and green for consistency. I read the abridged story and had a mix of chills, lump in my throat, and intense ...pride? I'm not sure about the pride. Like what you get when you're watching someone on the last 2 miles of their first marathon and see that glow break through the wreck as they realise they've crossed the line and the cheers are for them, now. Immediately bought the full version, even though, as I told my friend, I'm not sure when I'll be able to read it, despite knowing where it's going. Maybe after things calm down again. Also as I told my friend, I'm putting this on the same recommendation list as "One Bad Rat". Rare to find things that cut through the sick truths of violation and leave you feeling illuminated at the end. Glad you're getting so much response on this, Dean. You've given us something powerful. I hope it means more peace for you.

The first contact I had with this story wasn't the Upworthy link, but I think someone posted the full-color page with all the different characters in it, it was re-blogged or Tumblr'd by Wil Wheaton and I thought it was neat. My husband bought the print, and I'm waiting to have it framed. I didn't know what its source was, and after having bought the whole comic and read the story, now I do. Knowing what it is now, I'll be very proud to be able to display that print in my home.
