On another note, considering what he was probably working with camera-wise, this is a cool document of the time. Looking at this picture I couldn't help but think how music/fashion is coming full circle.

Yes, great link! It's nice to see photos of the Slits, Swans, and Gang of Four. You don't come across those too often.

This takes me back. Particularly the pictures of Flipper, arguably one of the most interesting and influential bands in a vast sea of clones. I had the good fortune to see Flipper at the now-defunct Farm about a year before Wil Shatter died. It was an amazing show.

Speaking of aging well, Viv Albertine, who taught aerobics before becoming a tv director, still looks like this. Jon Langford and Sally Timms of the Mekons haven't changed much either. Punk rock that doesn't kill you makes you stronger!

Oh that's great intermod...I can't tell you how often I realize I'm mumbling rhythmically "the demand is a sacrifice...the demand is a sacrifice" to the intense consternation and confusion of those around me. Glad to see *someone* else is out there...

Great pictures! The Young Marble Giants...The Slits...The Fall...Flipper....The Avengers.... No choreographed background dancers or corporate sponsors in sight. I was mostly down here in Los Angeles during those days, though I did see the Pistols at Winterland, the Throwing Muses at Berkeley Square, Devo at the Mabuhay (when they'd only out Jocko Homo single), Pavement at a little press club near the Berkeley Marina... If anyone's interested, there is a new documentary on the Minutemen coming out: http://www.theminutemen.com/trailers.html And I'm working on a documentary about the Germs and the LA punk scene 1977-1980ish, too. If anyone has any material relating to the Germs of the LA scene, or knows of such, I'd sure appreciate any leads. Thanks!

Wow! I was in Manhattan (well, taking the bus in from NJ) and later LA during those years. I think I was one of the few who wore out both Springsteen and Sex Pistols recors, at least in my high school. Has not aged well
