A note on Timmy Big Hands: It was the website the Mystery Science Theater 3000 guys created right after the show folded, as one of their many (and continuing) attempts to feed themselves solely by being funny without a basic cable network funding them. It lasted about two years, during which time we got to see some mighty, mighty odd things, like the syrup ads linked to the word "Big," above. Unfortunately, the site went dark soon afterwards, and all the strange and wonderful things on it disappeared into eternal limbo - that being another name for the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. All of the links to Timmy Big Hands are from that site, which is why so many of the images there are, unfortunately, broken. (Honestly, I've been looking for an excuse to make a FPP about Timmy Big Hands for a long time, but didn't think it could carry it all by itself.)

on Basic Instinct 2: "David Thewlis and Charlotte Rampling are riveting in supporting roles playing people who have lines. " On Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector: "...the whole thing adds up to a pickup truck of comedy with a bed full of laughs and a hemi of heart! " Great parody. The sad thing is there are probably--no, definitely--real reviews of these movies that say the same thing.

My favorite part is in the last review on the page: I tell ya, you have to admire Milla Jovovovich for her dedication. She trained in martial arts for a full year, and all for a movie that will be in theaters for two weeks tops! Wow. Hats off to Jovovovich, who combines the sexy smarts of a Jean-Claude Van Damme with the subtle allure of a Paris Hilton!

I interviewed them when the started Timmy Big Hands. They were all working out of a tiny office in St. Louis Park and laboriously uploading the page via dial-up connection. They seemed pretty optimistic about the whole undertaking, mostly because it gave them the opportunity to really stretch comedically. Nice group. I got to be friendly with Bill Corbett, who was pretty active in the local theater scene back then. No hot tub stories, although I and he were among a group of skinny dippers one especially scorching summer evening.

This harks back to the old Spy Magazine, which had a movie column as a service to press agents. "Oscar watch out - Hudson Hawk's going to swoop down and grab you!" Sadly, it's not too far from reality.

Cool. I found a DVD set of MST3K for cheap in a used DVD section and watched Angels Revenge and Shorts Vol 1 this weekend. I'd like to get more, but the 50 bucks for 4 episodes pricetag is a bit rich for me. Nostalgia requires 30 bucks tops.

So glad to see these guys still carryin' on. My favorite post-MST3K project remains Mike Nelson's Death Rat!, though. Otis, thanks for the link to the interview with ~~Gypsy~~ Jim Mallon. (And the "Quote-Whore of the Week" section of the Filthy Critic is quite wonderful, not to mention the site in general.)

Speaking of post-MST3K projects: is Darkstar ever going to be finished? The news still gets updated from time to time, but the project otherwise seems to have an abandoned air about it.
