Sex Education media has been around since the days of <a href="http://www.thesmokinggun.com/tsgtv/index.html?id=TSGV19-03&link=TSGTVshlk">silent films</a>. Huh. Ok, well I generally do that mostly to make it easier & more convenient for everyone by including one link for each part of a multiple part video. If that bothers people & you'd rather see fewer links, next time I'll just link the first part only and you guys can be on your own to find the rest of whatever comes after it. Less work for me that way, so no skin off my back. You guys just tell me what you'd prefer.comment:www.metafilter.com,2007:site.61026-1685830Wed, 09 May 2007 15:50:38 -0800miss lynnsterBy: ORthey

no offence meant, and hopefully none taken...
I'm just thinking there is usually a main and salient point to all posts on the blue, and when you have to wade through a bunch of stuff to get to it....it can be some combination of frustrating and time-consuming.
I seem to be in the minority with that opinion, and thats fine. But when I'm up to 20 different links by the third line I tend to forget why I was interested in it in the first place.

didnt mean to be harsh, and hopefully no one took it that way...just mentioning a personal peeve about some posts
I've seen some folks pretty much e-burned at the stake for posting something that wasn;t "worthy" of MeFi, or they didn't realize someone posted something similar in 2000, and got roasted as well. I don't really get that part of it, but a community is just that, and I'm glad to be able to read this stuff every day.
Personally...this site would probably work best for me if there was a huge 'HEY DUMBASS....YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN THIS" tag, but I take the wheat and the chaff with the rest of us.
Frankly...if you could just come over, print it out, and wake me up when you're done mowing the lawn...that would be pretty sweet too.

<small>(Beautifully done post, miss l. No wacky animals to be found anywhere in <em>this</em> one...thank $DEITY...)</small>
I'd seen the Anne Meara-narrated one about awareness of sex issues for older folks suffering from dementia, and it was amusing, shocking and saddening by turns -- especially the husband who had to be discouraged from hitting on his wife now that she no longer quite recognized him as his partner. It left me wondering about subtext -- what sort of long-term issues they might've had when they were still together in their home; whether she'd been a happy and fulfilled participant or merely a dutiful spouse who, psyche bared, now wasn't seeing in him whatever she might've seen when they were a much younger couple.
I'm glad my own 'rents, in the last years of their shared decline, apparently didn't seem suffer from any issues in that department (but then, dementia wasn't a problem for them either). Funny story: Shortly after Mom found out she was going to undergo aggressive radiotherapy that would cost her her hair, one afternoon she eagerly showed me the wig catalogue she'd recently gotten in the mail. "They have a threefer deal! This is perfect. I'll get one that looks like my original hair" -- nicely iron-gray frosting the auburn/brown in the short style she favored in those last months; rapidly turning pages, "a Dolly Parton sort of long blonde one -- I've <i>always</i> wanted to try being a blonde -- and <i>this"</i> -- she flipped to a page she'd paper-clipped, showing me a wonderful, long, dark-red number in a sort of Maureen O'Hara <how green was my valley/i> kind of cut -- "especially for your father," she concluded with a private smirk. (I was one of six sibs.)

Wow, that silent film had a lot of information to digest, but I did learn an awful lot! This is what I learned:
<ul>
<li>Women are for marriage and making babies</li>
<li>Babies are made when something from a man meets with something from a woman, and it takes nine months</li>
<li>Masturbation is selfish, childish, and stupid</li>
<li>Sexually transmitted diseases are always the man's fault</li>
<li>Comfortable shoes are very important</li>
<li>Family trees are huge and boring</li>
<li>The syphilis germ is spiral shaped</li>
<li>The secrets to a long and happy life are: fresh air, locomotives, and NO SEXUAL STIMULUS OF ANY KIND</li>

The multi-link words are fine because they link to multi-part videos. You done good. Can't think of a better, more concise way to do that.
It's the every-letter-is-a-link-to-a-<i>different</i>-video that people object to; they're essentially a forest of links with no context nor explanation. (Why does "e" link to this video while "p" links to that video?)

"Yes. Something that interested us yesterday when we saw it." "Where is she?" His lodgings were situated at the lower end of the town. The accommodation consisted[Pg 64] of a small bedroom, which he shared with a fellow clerk, and a place at table with the other inmates of the house. The street was very dirty, and Mrs. Flack's house alone presented some sign of decency and respectability. It was a two-storied red brick cottage. There was no front garden, and you entered directly into a living room through a door, upon which a brass plate was fixed that bore the following announcement:¡ª The woman by her side was slowly recovering herself. A minute later and she was her cold calm self again. As a rule, ornament should never be carried further than graceful proportions; the arrangement of framing should follow as nearly as possible the lines of strain. Extraneous decoration, such as detached filagree work of iron, or painting in colours, is [159] so repulsive to the taste of the true engineer and mechanic that it is unnecessary to speak against it. Dear Daddy, Schopenhauer for tomorrow. The professor doesn't seem to realize Down the middle of the Ganges a white bundle is being borne, and on it a crow pecking the body of a child wrapped in its winding-sheet. 53 The attention of the public was now again drawn to those unnatural feuds which disturbed the Royal Family. The exhibition of domestic discord and hatred in the House of Hanover had, from its first ascension of the throne, been most odious and revolting. The quarrels of the king and his son, like those of the first two Georges, had begun in Hanover, and had been imported along with them only to assume greater malignancy in foreign and richer soil. The Prince of Wales, whilst still in Germany, had formed a strong attachment to the Princess Royal of Prussia. George forbade the connection. The prince was instantly summoned to England, where he duly arrived in 1728. "But they've been arrested without due process of law. They've been arrested in violation of the Constitution and laws of the State of Indiana, which provide¡ª" "I know of Marvor and will take you to him. It is not far to where he stays." Reuben did not go to the Fair that autumn¡ªthere being no reason why he should and several why he shouldn't. He went instead to see Richard, who was down for a week's rest after a tiring case. Reuben thought a dignified aloofness the best attitude to maintain towards his son¡ªthere was no need for them to be on bad terms, but he did not want anyone to imagine that he approved of Richard or thought his success worth while. Richard, for his part, felt kindly disposed towards his father, and a little sorry for him in his isolation. He invited him to dinner once or twice, and, realising his picturesqueness, was not ashamed to show him to his friends. Stephen Holgrave ascended the marble steps, and proceeded on till he stood at the baron's feet. He then unclasped the belt of his waist, and having his head uncovered, knelt down, and holding up both his hands. De Boteler took them within his own, and the yeoman said in a loud, distinct voice¡ª HoME²¨¶àÒ°´²Ï·ÊÓƵ ѸÀ×ÏÂÔØ ѸÀ×ÏÂÔØ
