I used to think I was such a tomboy, playing with my older brother's matchbox cars. Now when I reflect on it, I realize that I basically played out little dramas with them, personifying them like dolls.

The only thing that would've made that video more epic was if the car had caught fire when it went in the fireplace and had kept going for another minute before exploding. Incidentally, here's the YouTube channel of the creators of that vid.

Wow, videos like this remind me what a spoiled hipster brat I've become thanks to the internet. Instead of being impressed, my gut reaction is "meh, if you're going to make some kind of convoluted Goldbergian contraption, at least film it in one take. Amateurs." I despise myself for thinking that.

Watched four times now. Love this My fourth now too. I've decided it's the kids at 1'00" to 1'20" waving to the little car as it goes past their little lunch that kick the video from "cool way to spend a lot of time and money" to "I want any children of mine to have parents like these".

The Winsome Parker Lewis: "meh, if you're going to make some kind of convoluted Goldbergian contraption, at least film it in one take. Amateurs."" I kind of thought, if it's not going to be a real, honest-to-goodness one-take machine, why not have parts of it be more comically impossible? They start to go in that direction later in the video, with the car ramping over the garage, but they could have taken in much further. Having said that, it's also awesome as-is.

AHHHHH!!! TOO MANY COLORS! It was making me feel like I was tripping somewhat. Maybe it was just that i had a long day at work, but my brain was not ready to process that much color information while tracking a fast moving object. My optic nerves had a 10-car pileup with all that information going through my rods and cones. I dig it, though. What I now want to see now that I've seen this: Tiny macro lens cameras in the car and at various points on the track, directed by Peter Yates (of Bullitt fame), with two cars racing each other. No, wait; Maybe shoot it in black and white, with a heavy Noir angle, Alphaville meets Bullitt, with tilt-shift establishing shots and only the character shots using 'normal' lenses. Forced perspective rules the visual frame. Deadly games of cat-and-mouse in a tiny, dangerous world gone mad. Dark, abstract heroes and villains forced to drive down a one-way track with no... going... back. Yeah. The bad guys could look like those wrench-wielding bad guys from the 'Take on Me' video. The smallest film with the biggest budget ever.
